IISLogsLite 2.0
IILogsLite 2.0 version offers the ability to ZIP files and optionally delete
the original log file. This version is written using .NET 2.0 Framework.
IISLogsLite 2.0 has new features including the ability to "automatically" add
WWW, FTP and SMTP folders defined in the metabase. You can also add your
own folders. This version will handle file extensions ending in
".log", ".zip", ".bdr", ".bdp", ".bad",
optionally ".xml".





- Open up IISLogsGUI in Program Files
- Select IISLogsLite.exe.config


- Click the Auto-Add Options tab
- Select the Enable Auto-Add Settings and appropriate settings.
(WWW, FTP, SMTP)

- Click the Standard Config Tab (Across the top row of Tabs)
- Click "Enable ZIP Feature"
- Click "Delete Original File After Zipped
- Fill in the "Zip Files Older than XXX" textbox. (This is in
Hours)
- Click Save in the toolbar.
Note: If you are enabling the ZIP and Delete Features, you will be
prompted to agree to the ZIP and Delete policies.
This section uses "EasyConfig" to configure IISLogs Lite 2.0
- After the install has completed, launch IISLogsGUI in Program Files

- Select IISLogsLite.exe.config
- Click Open

- This is the first screen and is a list of sites from the IIS Metabase.
Select the sites you want to zip.
- Add additional directories you want to monitor.
- Click Save

- Click Next
- Click Enable ZIP Feature

- If this is the first time configuring IISLogs to ZIP files,
you'll be prompted to agree to the ZIP Feature Policy Agreement.
This is an explicit agreement the person configuring has tested IISLogs
in a non-production environment or is in process of testing.
Also verifying
backups are available to insure critical Log Files are available, if
needed.

- Click OK
- Optional - "Delete Original Log File After Zipped"
- If enable one of the delete options in IISLOGS, you'll be prompted to agree to the
Delete File Policy Agreement.
Enabling anyone of these delete options for the first time will prompt you. Once you've agreed, you'll not be
prompted again. For me, I enable the Enable Delete Feature first and have it delete files older than 10 weeks old.
This will vary depending on your policies.
- You will be prompted to agree to IISLOGS DELETE FILE POLICY AGREEMENT.
This needs to be agreed before files will be deleted.

- Click OK
- Type a timeframe in the "ZIP Files Older Than XXX (Hours"

Optionally - You can store log files in the original folder
or an alternate directory
- Click Next

Select Enable Delete Feature
- Fill in Delete Retention Period (hours) -- Personally I put
1688

- Click Next
- File Naming Options

- If you take the defaults, the ZIP files will be named exYYDDMM.zip
OR CUSTOM
- The First and Last textbox is free-form text, these are optional and
will add text either in front and/or back of the file name, spaces
included.
Notice in dropdown textbox following items
%M% (Month in single digit),%MM% (Month in double digit),%MMMM% (In word
format)
%D% (Day in single digit),%DD% (Day in double digit),%DDDD% (In word
format)
%YY% (In two-digit year format), %YYYY% (In four year digit)

- Click Next
- Select Mail Report, Note: the Mail User id and Mail Password fields are stored encrypted so they aren't clear text in the config file.

- Click Next
- The Log Directory Path (Leave the defaults). The Service
Interval is not used


- Click Finished
- IISLogsGUI configuration utility will appear, this will have
all the settings configured in the Wizard.
Review all settings.

- To Launch IISLogsLite EXE, click the EXE listed in
the Program Files or the "RED ICON" in the menu bar.
- Optionally you can schedule IISLogsLite.exe using Windows Task
Scheduler, a 3rd party scheduler to run on a timed basis.
